Fostering sCO2 knowledge-sharing across continents

A Chinese delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences learns about sCO2-flex at the Institute of Nuclear Technology and Energy (IKE) of the University of Stuttgart.

On Friday 13 July 2018, sCO2-flex partners at the University of Stuttgart – IKE received a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to visit their SCARLETT test facility for investigations on supercritical CO2. Prof. Starflinger (picture: centre right) explained the IKE contributions to the EU projects “sCO2-HeRo” and “sCO2-flex “, in which the SCARLETT test facility is used.

CAS have just started a governmental funded project, called: “high efficiency low carbon gas turbine test facility”. The objective of the project is to build an open public research test facility. A 5MW supercritical CO2 brayton cycle research facility is planned in the project, the sCO2 cycle research facility wants to supply the users test condition for sCO2 compressor, Turbine, heat exchanger and the cycle performance.

IKE and CAS plan closer cooperation on this scientific topic.
