3rd European Conference on Supercritical CO2 (sCO2) Power Systems

The third European Conference on Supercritical CO2 took place on 19 and 20 last September, with the forth scheduled in March 2021. Download the conference proceedings.

Scientists from all over Europe came together to talk about the sensible and safe use of supercritical CO2 (sCO2).

Professor Brillert, Head of the Department of Turbomachinery at the University of Duisburg-Essen, chaired the conference, which took place in Paris this year. Together with Albannie Cagnac (Électricité de France), they welcomed the guests and then gave the floor to Roberto Passalacqua, Member of the EU Commission, who launched the conference on “EU commitment to CO2 reduction”. He said that the cause of the conference and its projects, namely the reduction of CO2 emissions, underlined the importance of the objectives of the conference and its projects, with the statement “Future generations will suffer because of our mistakes and delays in confronting climate changes”.

In several subsequent sessions, the research reports of the conference participants were discussed and discussed. The following main topics were represented:

◾Heat Exchanger and Transfer
◾Turbomachines and Power Systems
◾sCO2 Experiments and Loops
◾Application of sCO2 Usage
◾Materials and sCO2 Mixtures

At the end of the conference, the Best Paper Award was presented. This year he went to Ales Vojacek, Tomas Melichar, Frantisek Doubek, Petr Hajek and Timm Hoppe for the paper “Experimental Investigations and Simulations of the Control System in Supercritical CO2 Loop”.
